The electro-darts bays are the highlight — great fun even if you've never played before. Book a lane in advance for a weekend visit.

A fantastic option for mixed-age groups — genuinely something for every generation here. The food and drinks are good, the atmosphere is lively but not too loud, and the competitive socialising keeps people entertained for hours. Walk-ins possible on quieter weekday evenings.

OUR TIP

Book for seasonal events well in advance — the Christmas light trail and Halloween events sell out fast. The farm shop's local meat counter is exceptional.

📍 BARBOURNE · ~10 MIN WALK NORTH

Worcester's most loved park — WWI memorial with a large modern playground, duck pond, Victorian bandstand, grotto, and splash pad (open May–September). Bandstand concerts are free in summer. Café, clean toilets, and dog-friendly throughout. A brilliant free morning out for all ages.

OUR TIP

On sunny days the splash pad is brilliant for younger children — bring a change of clothes and towels. Combine with an ice cream from any nearby café for a perfect summer morning.

The playground is one of the best in central Worcester and caters for all ages. Bring bread for the duck pond — a children's classic. The park has toilets, a grotto in the rock face, and a bandstand with regular summer concerts. Ten minutes' walk north from Foregate Street station.

📍 OMBERSLEY/DUNHAMPTON · ~20 MIN DRIVE

A family-run educational farm park set on 18 acres near Ombersley — #1 attraction in Stourport on TripAdvisor with a 4.5-star rating from over 500 reviews. Meerkats, reindeer, foxes, piglets, newly hatched chicks, and a half-mile paddock ramble course. Plus: 30m luge run, go-karts, zipline, giant bouncy pillows, and a brilliant 3-level soft play barn.

OUR TIP

The luge run is 30 metres long with four lanes — the undisputed children's highlight. Arrive early to get maximum time on all the activities. Allow at least 5 hours for a full visit.

Consistently praised for friendly, attentive staff who go above and beyond. Suitable for all ages — from toddlers in the petting barns to older children on the luge and climbing wall. Bring a picnic to save money (picnic facilities available) or use the good-value on-site café. Seasonal events add extra fun at Easter, Halloween, and Christmas.

Ancient woodland, wildflower meadows, and easy walking trails just outside the city — with a visitor centre, café, and a good play area all on site. Free entry and free parking. Pushchair and wheelchair-friendly paths throughout. Perfect for a half-day nature escape with young children or dogs.

OUR TIP

Combine with the riverside walk (~4 miles total) for a brilliant half-day that takes in woodland, meadow, and river all in one. Beautiful in every season.

Well-marked trails for all abilities. The visitor centre has route maps and wildlife information. The café serves good-value food and drinks. Note: use the Country Park entrance on Wildwood Drive — parking is ANPR-monitored. The woodland trail connects to the Worcester Riverside Walk for a longer combined route.

📍FOREGATE STREET, CITY CENTRE

An elegant Victorian building with interactive family trails, natural history displays, and constantly changing exhibitions. Completely free and centrally placed. Family explorer trails keep children actively engaged throughout. A perfect rainy-day activity that genuinely surprises and delights all ages.

Pick up the children's explorer trail sheet at the entrance — it transforms the visit into an interactive adventure that genuinely keeps children engaged from start to finish.

Check the current temporary exhibition before visiting — recent shows have rivalled major city galleries. The Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce archive is a surprising children's favourite. Café on site. Easy to combine with the Guildhall next door.

One of the UK's best safari parks — a 4-mile drive-through safari with lions, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, and cheetahs. Always book online for cheaper tickets.

OUR TIP

Combine with a visit to nearby Bewdley — a beautiful Georgian riverside town just 1 mile from the safari park. The Severn Valley Railway also starts from Bewdley if you fancy a steam train ride home.

Book online in advance — gate prices are notably higher. The safari drive-through takes about 45 minutes; allow the full day for everything else. Arrive at opening time — animals are most active in the morning. Pack a picnic for the good picnic areas to save on food costs.

A spectacular castle and grounds housing Worcestershire's County Museum — 1,000 years of local history in a gorgeous setting. Family trails, a Victorian schoolroom, scullery, woodland play area, bird hide, and the lovely Hayley's Kitchen café. Fantastic for all ages.

The museum brings Worcestershire's history brilliantly to life with interactive exhibits and hands-on activities for children. The castle grounds are lovely for a picnic.
