Worcester Events & Festivals 2026: Your Complete Local Guide
Most people come to Worcester for the cathedral, the cricket, or a work trip and leave surprised by how much was happening around them that they didn't realise.
That's something we hear from guests all the time. Worcester isn't the kind of city that shouts about itself. But it has a genuinely strong events calendar, and 2026 is shaping up to be one of its best years yet - with new cultural venues opening, a landmark historical anniversary, and a packed roster of festivals, markets and sporting events running from January to December.
Here's everything worth knowing, season by season.

🌸 Spring (March – May): The City Wakes Up
Spring is an underrated time to visit Worcester. The riverside comes back to life, Cripplegate Park fills with colour, and the city sheds the quiet of winter without tipping into peak-season busyness.
It's not a season defined by one headline event, it's more of a steady hum. Local markets and community fairs start appearing. The University of Worcester opens its doors for events, open days and sports fixtures. And both Worcester Racecourse and the Cricket Ground reopen for their seasons, which gives the city that particular energy of sport returning.
One genuinely exciting addition for 2026: the Scala Theatre — long-awaited, built on the former cinema site in the city centre — is set to open this year. It's a 500-seat venue for live performances, independent films and visual arts exhibitions, and it's a real addition to Worcester's cultural life.
Spring events to note:
- RHS Malvern Spring Festival — 7–10 May Just eight miles from Worcester, the RHS Malvern Spring Festival is one of the biggest horticultural shows in the country. If you're visiting in early May, it's absolutely worth building your trip around — beautiful show gardens, plants, food and live entertainment across four days.
- Elgar Festival — 23–31 May A week of music celebrating Worcester's most famous son, with performances across the city. A fitting event for a city that wears its musical heritage proudly.

☀️ Summer (June – August): The Busiest Season, for Good Reason
Summer is when Worcester's events calendar hits its stride. If you're planning a trip around a specific event, this is the season to pay closest attention to — and to book accommodation early.
This summer also marks a significant milestone: 2026 is the 375th anniversary of the Battle of Worcester, the final clash of the English Civil Wars. Expect a programme of commemorative events, living history experiences and heritage tours running throughout the year, centred on sites like The Commandery.
